Second Step that I want to do for my Drum Festival is to add somethings Chinese Traditional Ink Painting Picture, I found this Mountain Picture if I change it to some water color, will it be nice?
Yes, I did it!
First, I downloaded this picture at http://d2f8dzk2mhcqts.cloudfront.net/311_Ink_Painting/2.jpg
Open it into another new workspace for editing
Picture is selected
Prepare to be edit in a New Work Space
Before Starting to edit for Ink of traditional Chinese Painting, we need to pay attention to five basic elementary to shown below: Clear, Light, Weighty, Strong and Adust.
Start: Unlock the layer with double clicking it so that we can do somethings on it and renamed as 'Layer 22'
Layer is Unlocking and Renamed as ''Layer 22''
Next I want to do it some Clear on that Image.
Duplicate the 'Layer 22' and renamed it as ''Blur + Soft Light'' .
This is because if anythings goes wrong when or after editing the image, we still have a original sample for it.
Layer is Duplicate with Ctrl + J
For making it CLEAR
First, on "Layer 22" go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and I set it to 5px.
Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Setting: 5.0 Pixels
The Effects after Gaussian Blur
Feel out of focus? Don’t worry. Change the layer blend mode to "Soft Light." That’s OK!
Select Soft Light in Blend Mode
The image after Blended
Copy Layer of "Blur + Soft Light" twice (Crtl + J), and both with "Soft Light." You will get two layers: a "Soft Light copy " and a "Soft Light copy 2." The image below shows you the layers in detail.
Layer showed
The image will be more lighter after duplicated
For another worthy change on this artwork, merge all of the visible layers again as "Desaturate".
Merged all the visible layers with Ctrl + Shift + Alt + E
Simultaneity go to Image > Adjustments > Desaturate to make it looks like a Chinese painting.
Desaturate
**Shortcut: Shift + Crtl + U
Desaturated
Next, For making it Light
Traditional Chinese ink painting often expresses its beauty just with blank space. So "LIGHT" here is the most crucial thing. However, in the landscape almost all are pictures, the biggest flaw precisely is the difficulty to represent space.
That is the most serious part in the exchanging between photos and ink paintings that I have advocated. First, we should deal with the body of the mountain with Dodge Tool (default foreground/background color). Outline the terminators on the stone, details given below.
Before that, duplicate a layer and renamed as ''Dodge''
A Layer is Duplicated and renamed as 'Dodge'
Select Dodge Tool
I use size 45 to dodge my image
Set the Range to Shadow
After Dodging the mountain, the image will be more lighter on the part of Mountain so that it look some space
Still feel something rigid and stiff? With these problems I use my usual approach to undertaking.
Duplicate a layer as "Blur + Multiply" and Gaussian Blur. Set the new layer’s blending mode to Multiply and reduce the Opacity to 70%.
Layer Duplicated and Renamed as 'Blur + Multiply'
Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Setting: 5.0 Pixels
Select Multiply in Blend Mode and Change Opacity to 70%
So, my Chinese Traditional Ink Painting Picture is done with showed steps. Had u learned somethings new?! Yea, Hope so
